The Last remaining white – part 2

Monday, October 1st, 2007

With the latest refresh of the iPod line it seems Apple is leaving the white plastic alltogether. With the Macbook line now the last remaining products sporting the polycrom look, there is lots of credibility in the surfacing rumors about a redesign.

Rumors of a small, thin and light laptop from Apple has been around for a while. Initially it was supposed to replace the late 12” Powerbook. Now it would make no other sense than to replace the MacBook line. With a sleek, superslim aluminum laptop with above average batterytime, Apple will cater to two rapidly increasing markets; students and the mobile business professional. More important, those specific niches are highly visible and often innovationleaders. This is the same kind of visible that the iPod has over other musicplayers, and the iPhone over most other mobile devices. It is all about design. Attractive design.

It is almost certain that it is the MacBook line that will be replaced, and thinking about current Mac sales and the forthcoming introduction of both Leopard and European iPhones I feel it probable that it will be released at MacWorld in January. Given the specifics of the current rumors though, I would not be surprised to see it already this year. Yes, Apple seems to be leaking of lately, but not that long in advance I would not think.

Ringles - What Are They Having?

Friday, September 14th, 2007

I’d like to know what they drink or eat at those record company meetings… whatever it is, I want it. Seriously. I need some wild ideas.

Nothing Toulouse!

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

The season can finally be declared officially for open!
With the Champions League qualifier win today, and the rather good start of the Premiership, LFC is in for it all this season. And the team looks strong - I must say.

a-ha back in business in Tromsø!

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Appears that the guys took the lukewarm critics from the Fredrikstad gig to their heart - the Tromsø concert apparently was an uplift. Tromsø newspaper Nordlys gave them five out of six.
Unfortunately I was not able to make it to Tromsø, but now contemplating going to Haugesund next week instead.

[update]

Another review by Tromsø By
Same setlist as in Fredrikstad. There are also links to YouTube videos of most of the songs (albeit not from the concert).
Interesting point about no songs at all from “Lifelines” - I thought about that during the Fredrikstad gig as well.

The future sound of Fake Steve

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

There are some mixed reactions to the revelation of Fake Steve - but in the end it was inevitable. Probably mr. Lyons is quite on spot when he claims he was surprised how long it took. Still, it was fun. But is the fun necessarily gone?

Gruber at Daring Fireball doesn’t seem to think so. Even if I agree with a lot - mr. Lyons has done some great pieces - I think it is a little naive to say that the “mystery” didn’t account for a huge part of the fun. One should not underestimate the power of deception.
The other claim he makes is (with reference to Saturday Night Live) that the biting satire of the blog can live on:

The obvious fear is that without the mask of anonymity, Lyons will be unable to perform with the same ferociousness. But the opposite is just as possible. Now that his identity has been revealed, he’s got nothing to lose.

It will be far fetched to say he already has lost it. But - as everyone knows - writing anonymously does something with people. Would mr. Lyons have come up with the terms he used for prominent figures writing under his full name? Now that everyone knows, will he be able to keep up the mocking of other newsoutlets and not Forbes? Will he really go that extra inch in his writing or be a little more thoughtful, so much that he looses the edge. It is a real fine line of satire being interesting and just plain pathetic.

I guess only time will tell if he keeps up somehow - but one thing is certain: Fake Steve is dead. He will not be the same ever again. Now it remains to see if there is a long live Fake Steve as well. I’m anyway thankful for the moments.

Finally online with the new site!

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

It took me a while - and some frustration - to get the site and setup. Still a stretch to go, but at least I’m online again. You’ll all just have to forgive me the lack of designmeasures till I figure this stuff out.
Stuff from the old site will find it’s way - at least some of it.
